Connecting Your Domain Name

Connecting your domain is pretty straightforward.

  1. Click on the settings wheel and then on Domains. Once there, click "connect an existing domain". You'll simply type in the name of your domain that you've purchased somewhere like GoDaddy.
  2. Once you complete that step it will display a couple of lines of DNS settings. You shouldn't have to worry about the one labeled CNAME as your DNS settings should already default to that. However, you will need to pay attention to the one labeled A Record. This is the IP address of your Churchly account.
  3. You'll head on over to your domain name provider such as GoDaddy and go to the DNS settings for your domain. Find the one labeled A Record. It's usually the first one listed. There will be an IP address there that looks similar to the one you see in Churchly. Simply edit that record by replacing the IP address listed with the one we provided you in Churchly and then make sure to save/update your records.

That's it! Easy, right? :)

Your domain name may start pointing to your Churchly site within the hour, or it may take up to 24 hours; this just depends on name servers and all sorts of other factors.
