Code Widget
In this video we're looking at the code widget! We'll look at how and when to use it, and the different types of code you can use with it.
Step 1: Add a New Block for Your Code
- Log in to your Churchly website editor.
- Navigate to the page where you want to embed the code.
- Click on "Add a new block" on the page to create space for the custom code. This gives you an empty section that is ready for customization.
Step 2: Insert the Code Widget
- Within the new block, go to the widgets menu.
- Scroll down until you find the "Code" widget.
- Drag the Code widget into the new block space.
Step 3: Embed Your Custom Code
- After placing the Code widget, you will be prompted to insert your code.
- Go to the source of your custom code (for example, your Church Community Builder or Planning Center account) and copy the required code.
- Return to the Churchly editor and paste the copied code into the Code widget.
Step 4: Adjust Widget Styling and Positioning (Optional)
- Once your code is added, you might need to adjust the widget's styling to ensure it fits well on your page. This includes modifying spacing and size to accommodate the embedded feature, like a login form.
- You can further customize the layout by adding columns, headers, or texts around your Code widget to enhance the visual appeal and usability of the embedded feature.
Step 5: Save and Preview
- After embedding and styling your code, click "Save" to apply the changes.
- Preview your page to see how the embedded code behaves in a live environment. Ensure everything displays correctly and functions as expected.
Additional Tips
In the Code widget, you can specify the type of code you are embedding, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, XML, or plain text. Select the appropriate type based on your code snippet.
Make sure the "Execute code" option is checked if you want the website to render the functionality of the code. Unchecked, it will display as plain text.
