Forms Widget

In this video we'll be looking at how to add and build custom forms on your Churchly pages. We'll also look at how to integrate your form with Mail Chimp and Active Campaign.

Introduction

Welcome to our step-by-step guide on how to leverage forms using Churchly, your go-to platform for website building and communication enhancement. Forms are versatile tools perfect for data collection, event registration, user feedback, and much more.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Adding a Form

  • Navigate to the section of your webpage where you'd like to add a form.
  • Look for the forms widget and drag it into your desired block. You'll see a blue line indicating where the form will be placed.

Step 2: Formatting Your Form

  • Initially, the form asks for a name, email, subject, and message. These fields stretch across the full width of the container.
  • To adjust the size of the fields, click the little arrow next to each field. Clicking once will resize the field to half its width, allowing for side-by-side arrangement.
  • Given that subjects are often unnecessary, consider removing the subject field by clicking the delete option.

Step 3: Customizing Form Fields

  • Utilize placeholders to provide examples or instructions within each field. For example, adding "John Adams" in the name field or "john@email.com" in the email field.
  • You can add various types of fields based on your requirements including phone numbers, addresses, text fields, radio buttons, checkboxes, and date pickers.
  • Utilize the file upload option for forms needing document submissions, like parental consent forms.
  • Segment the form using different sections to organize information efficiently.

Step 4: Securing Your Form

  • Always include Google reCAPTCHA in your forms. This feature prevents bots from filling out and submitting forms, reducing spam.

Step 5: Previewing and Testing Your Form

  • Once you've added and customized your fields, refresh your page to preview the form.
  • Test the functionality of each field and the reCAPTCHA to ensure everything is working as intended.

Step 6: Editing Form Settings

  • Click the edit settings option on your form to open the settings menu.
  • Name your form to easily identify it later in the "engage" section where submissions appear.
  • Enter an email to receive notifications whenever the form is filled out.
  • Customize the submission button text, e.g., changing "Submit" to "Send."
  • Add a message to display upon form submission to thank users or provide additional instructions.

Step 7: Styling Your Form

  • Adjust the style of labels, fields, and the submit button to match your site’s aesthetics. This could include changing colors, border styles, and font types.
  • Ensure your form's styling is consistent with the rest of your site for a unified look.
