Blog Widget
In this video we're talking all things blog posts! We'll take a look at how to display your blog posts in any category to any page on your site.
Introduction
Adding a blog to your Churchly website is a great way to share news, events, sermons, and more with your community. This tutorial will guide you through the process of adding and customizing the blog widget on your website.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Accessing the Blog Widget
- By default, your Churchly website blog posts can be found at yoursite.com/blog. This is where all your blog posts will be displayed.
Step 2: Displaying the Blog Elsewhere
- If you prefer to display your blog in a different section of your website, start by adding a new block where you want the blog posts to appear.
- Choose a block that includes a title or similar element. For example, you might select a block design that says, "Check out our latest blog posts."
Step 3: Adding the Blog Widget
- Below your chosen title or introduction, add the blog widget. By default, the widget will display your posts as a list.
Step 4: Customizing the Blog Display
- To include post images and descriptions, click on the option to "show post image and description."
- Consider changing the layout to a masonry grid if you prefer a more dynamic arrangement. This layout type arranges posts in a grid with varying box heights for a visually appealing design.
Step 5: Filtering Posts
- You have the option to display recent posts, specific categories (e.g., pastor's blog, news and events, sermons), or tags.
- To show posts from all categories, select "all categories."
Step 6: Adjusting Visibility and Navigation
- Decide how many posts you want to display initially and adjust the number accordingly (e.g., show six posts for a balanced layout).
- Add a "load more" button to allow visitors to view additional posts without leaving the page.
- Enable or disable social share buttons according to your preference. It's recommended not to show share buttons immediately to encourage readers to engage with the content first.
Step 7: Preview and Save
- Once you are satisfied with the setup, preview the page to see how the blog widget looks in action.
- Check the layout, post display, and navigation features to ensure everything is as expected.
Step 8: Finalizing Changes
- Save your changes to update your website with the new blog widget placement and settings.
